I found that the diapers stink less if I don't soak them. I also thought I had to soak when I first started using, but as soon as I found out I didn't I quit. It is SO much easier not to. Just keep them in an enclosed pail (even a 5 gallon bucket with a lid will work). I line my pail with a garbage bag or a washable nylon bag so that I don't have to wash the pail.
