Thanks to Winnie for this Frugal Baby Tip!
I've got a Potty Pail and I am sooo happy with this method, ESPECIALLY since we just moved to an apartment. Have you ever used your Potty Pail as a mini-washer?
Here's my new method of washing my lightly soiled dipes. With all the washers in the basement of the building now, there's NO WAY I'm able to wash dipes (or anything else) as easily as we did when the washer was in our house. (boo hoo )
It's a big enough job just to get down there to do the family wash and I'm certainly not going to throw the stinky dipes in with the regular wash. I don't care what anyone says, I think that would be un-sanitary. Besides I must consider the rights and concerns of the other tenants in the building, I'm sure many of them would think it un-sanitary to do their wash in a machine that just had a load of poopy dipes run through it
With my Potty Pail I rinse my lightly soiled dipes out with the high pressure sprayer (the sprayer blasts every speck of poop off them!) then I just pop in the stopper add a little Bac-Out and soap and do a soak, wash and rinse right there on my toilet! (Heck of a lot more sanitary than hand-washing in the sink!).
Most of these lightly soiled dipes had only been on my baby for an hour or less before she soiled them. Some of them are basically a dry clean diaper with a small spot where the poop had been. I say, why permeate these basically clean dipes by soaking them or washing them together in poopy water?
I just know that my dipes will last longer with this method. The dipes that have been deeply soiled I spray off, hand wring them and leave them in my bucket without worrying about stink or stains setting in before I get a shot at a washing machine!
I know everybody's got their own system but I'm sure happy with my Potty Pail!!!
